Great Book for Singing

I love this book! I had one many years ago and lost it. Recently, I've been playing piano, mostly by ear and was missing my old book. I was very happy to be able to buy it here. My only complaint is it took much longer (weeks) than most Amazon items do to get to me. I also have the sequel book called Rise Again and I like that too. The spiral binding makes it very easy to read at a piano or keyboard and the relatively small size makes it convenient for taking to a group sing of any type It's just a book of lyrics but also has guitar chords included.

Best Single Source for Classic Folk Songs

This is the best single source for most classic folk songs. Other reviewers have complained about the system used to show guitar chords, and I agree that it can be a little confusing. However, the more-traditional method of displaying chords in a line above each line of lyrics would have taken up far more room. The result would be a book too thick to be usable, or a book with far fewer songs. If you know the tune, it only takes a little bit of trial and error to get the chords right. As noted by a few reviewers, some of the chords seem incorrect, and that is indeed the case for a small number of songs. I needed to replace my old worn-out copy of this book and ordered the "Large Print Leader's Edition", which was just the ticket for my aging eyes!

fantastic songbook!

I bought this as it was recommended to me as having all the songs i sang growing up in church, camp, school, and family. it is missing a few that really ought to be in there (most notably the Star Spangled Banner) but it does really have most of the songs i was looking for. Songs that I hope are included in the next edition are Red Headed Stranger, Blue Tailed Fly, South Coast, Henry Martin. it also has guitar cords. and in case you remember the melody for part but not all of a song, there's always youtube (although I have found at least one song with intereresting lyrics that i cant find on youtube and would like to know the melody to learn to sing it). i hope every scout troop, summer camp, faith group, and school classroom can get a copy of this book! Everything from Puff the Magic Dragon to Blowin in the Wind to Ride an Old Paint to Golden Vanity and All Gods Critters. Love, love, love!
